PrimeLogistics opens an office in Tbilisi, Georgia

July 1st is the birthday of our new subsidiary in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Georgia is a reliable corridor for addressable flows between the Caucasus and Europe and between Central Asia and Europe. This concept is being based on the historical Silk Road for centuries that gives Georgia a significant geopolitical role.
Georgian transport economy is transit-oriented. The cargo flow in Georgia is around 50% transit. Transport corridors are breathing new life into the ancient trade route between east and west and contribute to the reinvigoration of Georgian transportation.

Georgia is developing a new deep-sea port that is intended to have 100 mln tons capacity. In addition, major works for Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Project were completed and the new railway line was officially opened in October 2017. This railway has significant importance for the region, as it connects Georgian and Azerbaijan railways to the Turkish one. In parallel, the country’s main road network – East-West Highway is being constructed intensively. These projects are aimed to increase the main geopolitical asset of Georgia – transit potential. 

According to the World Bank Group, Georgia Ranks as the 3rd Least Tax Burdened Country in the World, with 9.9% Total Tax Rate.

Price stability is a fundamental factor for the country’s sustainable economic growth. The monetary policy of the National Bank of Georgia relies on a regime of inflation targeting, to maintain price stability and to minimize fluctuations in economic growth. At the current stage of economic development in Georgia, the inflation target for 2019-2021 is set at 3%.

No capital gains, wealth, or inheritance tax
Personal income tax for interest, dividend, and royalty is 5%
No corporate income tax on retained and reinvested profit;  profit tax applies only to distributed earnings.

Georgia has been making wine for more than 8,000 years and recently broke the GUINNESS World Records by being the oldest wine-making nation based on the wine residue found on one of the clay jars Georgia uses for producing the beverage. Its unique winemaking process is even listed as UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. 

Georgia has its own language and alphabet spoken by only around 4 million Georgians in the whole world. It is among the world’s 14 unique and oldest languages. The alphabet underwent three different script development and what Georgia uses today is called Mtavruli, having 33 letters.   

Georgian cuisine is as diverse as its landscape where every region here has its own traditional dish. The cuisine is influenced by Georgias neighbors and invaders, such as Persians, Ottomans, and Russians. Additionally, Medittereaninan trances can also be found here. Due to this, the meals are heavy on the dough, meet, various strong and flavorful spices, and walnuts. However, there are plenty of plant-based dishes to cater to vegetarians as well.
